We left the port of New Orleans, sailed out through the Gulf of Mexico, down and around the coast of South America, around Cape Horn, and into the Pacific Ocean. For three months there was nothing in sight, and I realized that my initial hopes were futile at best. We met several interesting people during this trip. Commander Farragut was an admirable captain. He knew his ship, his crew, and his duty: to destroy the giant narwhal at any cost. Commander Farragut even promised a $3,000 reward to the first person to spot the creature. Read Panel
